Iceland Trek 2017

  • Dr Cornelia Szecsei

I'm a second year Histopathology trainee in the Severn Deanery. I read about The College’s international projects and felt inspired to get involved with fundraising. It’s easy to forget that many countries, some of which aren’t very far away, don’t yet have established diagnostic services or cancer screening programmes and it’s great that the College is helping set these up. I’m a city girl born in London so trekking across lava fields and camping in the wilderness will be a new and exciting challenge.

When I’m not looking down my microscope I like looking through my camera lens. I really enjoy travel photography and the scenery in Iceland will let me indulge this hobby. One of my photographs was recently a runner up in a travel photography competition run by The Sunday Times. As a medical student I won an MDU elective photography competition and as an F2 I had my photos on display in the hospital as part of a staff art competition. When I’m not working or travelling I like doing yoga and relaxing at home in Bath with my boyfriend and two cats.

Ride London 2018

  • Dr Jim Seale

College fellow and Regional Council for Wales’s member Dr Jim Seale completed this year’s Prudential RideLondon challenge, which took place on Sunday 29 July 2018. Prudential Ride London is seen as the world’s greatest festival of cycling. This year’s event is the sixth of its kind. A total of 26,720 riders completed the event on Sunday.

Dr Jim Seale surpassed his initial target and raised the much-needed £673 to support the implementation and evaluation of a human papillomavirus (HPV) screening pilot project in Zimbabwe.

London Marathon 2017

  • Dr Alice Wort

    Chair, RCPath Trainee Advisory Committee

‘I am really excited to be running the Virgin Money London Marathon 2017 for RCPath’s Global Health Challenges. The College’s ‘Pathology is Global’ initiative is helping deliver high quality international pathology services, which are vital for health care all over the world.

Alice’s training goal is to arrive on the start line fit and ready to race. Alice’s race goal is to be smiling in every photo taken of her during the race; particularly the one when she crosses the finish line!
