About
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) is the premier postgraduate medical institution of Pakistan established in 1962 to promote specialist medical practice, arrange postgraduate medical training and research, and advance the high principles of the medical profession. Pakistan Association of Pathologists (PAP) was established in 1975 to promote the advancement of pathology through research, improvement of teaching and technical methods, the organisation of scientific meetings and collaboration with allied sciences. PAP is an umbrella organisation comprised of the following constituent specialty associations: International Academy of Pathology (IAP) – Pakistan Division, Histopathology and Cytology Society of Pakistan (HCSP), Pakistan Society of Haematology (PSH), Pakistan Society of Chemical Pathology (PSCP), Medical Microbiology and Infectious Disease Society of Pakistan (MMIDSP), Pakistan Society of Immunology (PSI) and Association for Molecular Pathology Pakistan (AMPP).
Objectives
The first Memoradum of Understanding was formed in 2015 and renewed in 2021. It sets out that together we will work towards:
- supporting mapping against RCPath’s curricula
- strengthening local examination and assessment methods and frameworks
- supporting continued professional development/continuing medical education
- promoting pathology and laboratory medicine
- establishing guidance and provision of resources related to international education schemes.
