TOPICS COVERED

In this first webinar, Dr Nicola Curry and Dr Gael Morrow will discuss the pathophysiology and treatment of trauma-induced coagulopathy (TIC). They will share insights from their collaborative efforts combining laboratory research and clinical practice, which have uncovered new information that has helped fill in some of the gaps about how and why some treatments work better than others. Additionally, they will discuss strategies for clinicians to optimise treatment delivery and enhance outcomes for patients with TIC.

SPEAKERS

• Dr Nicola Curry - Dr Curry is an Associate Professor of Haematology at the University of Oxford and a Consultant haematologist specialising in bleeding and clotting disorders. Her research focuses on the pathophysiology of trauma coagulopathy and the influence of the endothelium on the evolution of coagulopathy and the associated bleeding. She sits on the UKHCDO Gynaecology and Musculoskeletal Working Parties, is the NIHR co-lead for haematology for the Thames Valley, and is a committee member of the BSHT.
• Dr Gael Morrow - Dr Morrow is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Oxford and the University of Aberdeen and a Chancellor’s Fellow at Robert Gordon University. Her main research interest is in fibrinolysis, with a current focus on major bleeding following traumatic injury.
