Join our panel speakers for a free webinar about careers and training in immunology
This online event will shine a spotlight on careers in immuology. Our four speakers are all medically trained doctors who have chosen to specialise in immunology. The session (to be held on Zoom Webinar) aims to give medical students and Foundation Doctors a comprehensive introduction this fascinating pathology specialty.

We have two consultants and two registrars speaking at this event so the format is slightly different to previous webinars. The programme will be:

6.50pm – Panel discussion and audience Q&A

This event is being run jointly by The Royal College of Pathologists, the Manchester Pathology Society and the Pathology Sub-Committee of the UCL Medical Society.
Meet our speakers
Dr Anne Boulton MB BChir MA (Cantab.) MRCP
Allergy and Clinical Laboratory Immunology (ACLI) speciality trainee (ST5) in Cambridge. Graduated from the University of Cambridge. Current RCPath Trainee Rep for Immunology. Completing an MSc in medical education. Loves singing and musicals.
Prof Mohammed Yousuf Karim
Yousuf is Division Chief, Hematology/Immunology/Transfusion, at Sidra Medicine, Doha, and Clinical Professor in Immunopathology, Qatar University. He studied medicine at Cambridge University, with clinical training at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals, qualifying in 1993 with Distinctions in Medicine and Pathology. He was Clinical Lecturer in Immunology at King’s College London 1998-2004, then Consultant Immunologist at Surrey Pathology Services 2004-18 and Clinical Lead in Immunology at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospitals 2006-14. He worked for 25 years in the NHS, before moving to establish the Immunology laboratory at Sidra Medicine, a new tertiary paediatric and maternity academic centre. His current research concerns early recognition and diagnosis of primary and secondary immunodeficiency. He has authored 90 publications and chapters, and received grant awards totaling £2.5 million. He was Chair of the Clinical Immunology Committee of the British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology 2014-17, an Expert Member for the NICE Quality Standards on Drug Allergy in 2015, and on the Guidelines Committee of UK-Primary Immunodeficiency Network 2016-18. He is currently one of the two RCPath representatives for Qatar.
Dr Betsy Cleave
Betsy is a consultant Immunologist in Nottingham, working in both adult and paediatric Immunology, drug allergy, and laboratory immunology. She graduated from the University of Cambridge and completed paediatric core training in the East Midlands. She trained as an Immunologist initially in Leicester and latterly in Nottingham, where she has been working as a consultant for the last year. She enjoys teaching and introduced regular supraregional Immunology training sessions whilst a registrar. She loves to bake, and to travel – and her last big adventure involved visiting Vietnam, Thailand and Nepal between completing Immunology training and starting as a consultant.
