This is the annual symposium from SHOT which is the independent, professionally led haemovigilance scheme in the UK.
TOPICS COVERED
- The symposium has an exciting programme covering key haemovigilance and safety related topics. Delegates will be able to receive an update on the latest annual SHOT Report, learn about the emerging themes in the submitted reports and the recommendations. Dr Chris Turner from 'Civility saves lives' will be speaking on the importance of civility in healthcare. The event is also an exciting opportunity to learn from work that is being done across the NHS to improve transfusion safety and we have a blood donor and a transfusion recipient sharing their experiences as well. A panel discussion with patient representatives and transfusion experts will focus on engaging and involving patients to improve safety. Other topics being covered include an update from UK Transfusion Laboratory Collaborative, occult hepatitis B and other emerging transfusion transmitted infections and learning cases from the latest SHOT Report.
- The event provides an excellent opportunity for all staff involved in transfusion medicine right from collection of blood to administration of blood components and management of patients to network, learn from each other, share best practices and get updated on the latest Annual SHOT Report.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
All staff including clinical, laboratory, quality staff involved in the transfusion pathway from collection of blood from donors, manufacturing, testing, processing to transfusion of blood components to patients.
