To raise awareness of rare diseases, the College’s Wales Regional Council led by Dr Anu Gunavardhan, Chair, organised a walk along the Wales Coastal Path on Saturday 26 October 2024 and all College members were invited to take part.
A walk took place along the South Wales coast starting at Penarth Pier and finishing at the Welsh parliament, the Senedd, in Cardiff Bay. We were delighted that the Mayor of Penarth, Cllr Gwenda Roberts, and Jenny Rathbone MS joined us and we marked completing the walk at the Senedd, the Welsh parliament building. Thank you to all the walkers and to those who supported us.
Dr Anu Gunavardhan, Chair of the Wales Regional Council said:
"It was brilliant to see members taking part in the College Coastal Walk to highlight the amazing work pathologists do and to raise awareness of rare diseases. We were grateful for the support of Cllr Gwenda Roberts, Mayor of Penarth, Jenny Rathbone MS, medics for rare disease, SWAN clinic, Ethnic Minority Women in Welsh Health Care and Nerve Tumour UK, and look forward to continuing to work closely on promoting the work of pathologists in Wales."
We would like to thank all speakers and attendees of the RCPath Wales Pathology Symposium, which took place on 25 October, for the engaging and insightful discussions highlighting pathology services in innovative platforms and rare disease diagnosis.
